Haileybury pupils achieve record A Level and International Baccalaureate Diploma results

September 6, 2006 on 11:39 am | In Hertfordshire

Final year pupils at Haileybury, an independent co-educational school in Hertfordshire, have achieved the school’s best ever results at A Level and in the International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2006.

Combining the results of the two examinations, 78.0% of entries were graded A or B, which is 3.5% better than the previous record achieved in 2003. Also for the first time ever, 100% of A Level entries fell in the range A to E, regarded as the pass grades.

The Master, Stuart Westley, said: “Everyone in the school will be delighted with this achievement which reflects a great deal of hard work on the part of both pupils and teachers.”

These results are further evidence of Haileybury’s dramatic progress in recent years. In September 2006 there will be a record number of pupils in the school, 758, which compares with 583 in 1995, 498 of whom will be boarders. The improving examination results year on year reflect the increased demand for places at each of the entry points, at age 11, 13 and 16.
