The Fours and Small Boats Head took place on Sunday 11th October with a record entry of over 420 crews. Bedford Modern School had 32 Year 9 students (Project Lightning) competing alongside dozens of other BMS rowers from Year 10 (Project Legend) and Year 11. There was ample support from parents who were very excited, cheering “Come on Modern!”
BMS Year 10 student, Glenn Tamkin, won the J15 Singles Scull against a lot of strong competition from all around the country. However, the result of the day for Bedford Modern School was the Year 9 Girls’ Coxed Quads Scull who in their first ever race for the School achieved a First Place win. The winning crew were Hannah Milburn, Bea Skingsley, Emma Lord and Jess Goodman.
“Well done to Tristan Mayglothling, Head of Girls’ Rowing at BMS in securing his second win for the School in as many weeks. Congratulations to everyone who competed in the Bedford Small Boats Head and also to all BMS parents whose support was incredible. There were a number of other very significant results throughout the day for BMS as well as the two wins,” said Alistair Brown, BMS Director of Rowing.
