Other events during the day included
· A Light Gun display from 7 Para Royal Horse Artillery based at Colchester

· Command tasks, conducted by senior cadets
· Weapon training, conducted by senior cadets
· Observation and Kims game.
The final event of the afternoon was the Field Gun Run, which is a tribute to the Royal Navy’s involvement in the relief of Ladysmith during the Boer War in 1900, when guns from HMS Powerful were hauled to Ladysmith by the ship’s Naval Brigade to defend the town against the Boer attack.
The 3 army platoons and RAF flight were represented by a team of eight cadets who crossed an obstacle course with replica cannon, dismantling and reassembling as they came across obstacles.

April 20, 2009 on 12:50 pm | In 2009/2010-SPORT, Suffolk

On Friday, 20th March, 8 keen budding netballers, Miss Fenwick, Miss Nash and Mr Grunnell, along with all their luggage piled onto the minibus and started the long journey to Barton Hall,Torquay. After many hours, we arrived, tired and full of food. The team consisted of Erina Wanaka, Georgina Minta, Catherine Whyte, Shannon Bodmer, Charlotte Green, Chloe Stewart, Polly Davies and Sophie Whyte. We dumped all our bags into our rooms and then we were taken for a guided tour by our PGL leader, Ross. That evening’s activities consisted of Passport to the World. The team had to travel across the site finding countries, which after a 2 hour trek, St Felix a.k.a ‘the Power Puff Girls’ won! The next morning we rose bright and early and headed off to breakfast in our brand new netball kit, kindly donated by Mrs Fuller and the School Shop. The team captained by Polly and Chloe, played four matches that day. The first two we narrowly lost by one goal, but we didn’t let it get us down. For the next two matches we were fully psyched up and eventually won them both. A special mention must go to Charlotte, Catherine and Shannon for their shooting. We had activities that afternoon, zip wire, aeroball, quadbiking and eating ice cream! The day finished with a rather snazzy disco! The next day, we played our best match of the weekend. We needed to win the match to have a chance of qualifying to the semi finals. We managed to win 7-1. Unfortunately the team that needed to lose for us to get to the semis also won, resulting in us coming 3rd overall in our group. We were all very pleased with our performances, especially as the teams we played were up to 2 years older than some of our players and were a lot taller, but we played well as a team and pulled through. We would like to say a big thank you to Miss Fenwick, Miss Nash and Mr Grunnell for giving up their time and giving us this opportunity. Special mention must go to Polly who played out of position all weekend and was exceptional at Goal Defence, getting every ball! Players of the tournament were Polly and Georgie. Well done to everyone involved.

April 16, 2009 on 1:15 pm | In Suffolk

On the afternoon of 6th March we celebrated St Felix day with the involvement of the whole school. The purpose of the day was to raise funds for our sister school in Papua New Guinea. It was good to see that the sports hall had been transformed by the Houses into a hive of industry with many stalls and activities on offer. As the weather was fine some activities had spilled out into the open air, namely Mr Hutchinson being socked with wet sponges, all in the name of charity of course, and Edmond’s fine effort at running an obstacle course. The final part of the celebrations was a set of inter House relay races including egg and spoon and shuttle runs, with the pre-prep pupils starting off each race. Congratulations to Rowell who were the over all event winners.
It was a good and worthwhile day as the Houses managed to raise over £670 between them. Well done to all who took part.

Taking the gold in this championship is impressive and even more impressive is the fact that this is the second year running that she has taken the medal. In 2008 she jumped 1.55 metres to win the title”.
Year 11 pupil, Jonathan Ilori, competed in the triple jump gaining a bronze medal after jumping 13.93 metres and achieving a new personal best.Paul Hardman went on to say, “not only has Jonathan come away with a medal and he should be very proud indeed but I am told that he has also been targeted as a UK 2012 hopeful”.

It is a brilliant innovation and I am sure we are the only primary school in the area (country) to have these installed in every infant and junior classroom
